Stiliyana Nikolova Wins All-Around Title at the International “Sofia Cup” Tournament

Reigning European all-around champion Stiliyana Nikolova won the all-around title in the women’s category at the prestigious international rhythmic gymnastics tournament “Sofia Cup” in the capital. The NSA student scored a total of 115.950 points, while fellow national team member Dara Stoyanova placed second with 112.950 points. The bronze medal went to Alice Lebedova from Latvia. The competition served as a dress rehearsal ahead of the World Cup tournament in Sofia from April 4 to 6.

Bulgarian national gymnasts won 4 more titles and 7 additional medals in the apparatus finals. Nikolova triumphed in ball and clubs, while Eva Brezalieva took gold in hoop and ribbon. In the junior category, Bulgaria’s first team (Magdalena Valkova and Antoaneta Tsankova) claimed first place in the team event, where the country was represented by five squads.

The overall tally for Bulgarian rhythmic gymnastics from the “Sofia Cup” in both the women’s and junior divisions is 16 medals (11 gold and 5 silver).

"A very strong Bulgaria, very strong internal competition, surprises in the team rankings. I’m very happy and satisfied with what I’m seeing," summed up the tournament Iliana Raeva, President of the Bulgarian Rhythmic Gymnastics Federation.
