Kiril Milov won the Greco-Roman wrestling title at the European Championship in Bratislava. The NSA student triumphed in the 97 kg category, defeating Germany’s Lukas Lazogianis 7:1 in the final. This gold medal is Milov’s second from continental championships, following his title in 2022. The key victory for the Bulgarian came in the semifinals, where he overcame his major rival Artur Aleksanyan (Armenia), Olympic champion from Paris 2024 and winner of seven gold medals at World Championships.

“This medal is the most anticipated one in my entire career so far because I beat an extremely tough opponent like Aleksanyan. Now I dream of a world title, which is still missing from my collection,” Milov told BNT.

Meanwhile, Bulgaria’s Olympic champion Semen Novikov claimed a silver medal at the championship in Bratislava. In the title bout of the 87 kg category, the NSA freshman narrowly lost 3:4 to Hungary’s Dávid Losonczi.

Bulgaria’s third medal in Greco-Roman wrestling came from Abu-Muslim Amaev, who also earned a silver medal in the 67 kg category.
