29 March 2011 ![]() Dr. Frank Dick OBE was awarded Honorary Professor The awarding ceremony was held on 29th March 2011, in Aula Maxima (the largest hall) at the National Sports Academy (NSA), Sofia. The title was bestowed to Dr. Frank Dick for his distinguished contributions to the Athletics in Europe and worldwide and for his long-time collaboration with the Academy.He was a co-organizer and a keynote speaker at two significant scientific forums - the 28th Congress of EACA and the Seminar on Altitude Training in Athletics, both held at the National Sports Academy. Upon receiving the ceremony symbols – a medal and a diploma, Frank compared the award to the Olympic gold medal. He said he did not want to take it off. Mrs. Catherine Barber, Charge d'Affaires of the British Embassy attended the official ceremony and congratulated the Honorary Professor. Her Excellency alsospoke about the London 2012 Olympics and their promotion in Bulgaria. Frank Dick delivered a lecture that was really unforgettable: confiding words of wisdom expressed in afriendly and engaging manner; sharing the essence of his impressive coaching experience; making conclusions that worth a fortune. He illustrated his speech by video materials showing how famous athletes face different challenges. The large hall was full of students, tutors and guests and everyone seemed inspired by his speech. Undeniably, the Honorary Professor not only justified his fame of being one of the best motivational speakers, but he exceeded the expectations. His professional biography is fabulous and impressive. Dr. Dick has held the post of Chairman of the British Olympic Coaches Advisory Programme from 1983 to 1994. He has also beenDirector of Coaching for the British Athletics Federation from 1974 to 1994. He served as Chief Coach to the British team at four Olympic Games, seven European Cups, three European Championships and three World Championships.Over the past two decades Frank Dick has worked with many top international athletes, including Daley Thompson, Boris Becker, Katarina Witt and Gerhard Berger.For his remarkable achievements he received the title Officer of the Order of the British Empire. Currently, he is the President of the European Athletics Coaches Association, and Chairman of the International Association of Athletics Federations Academy.
