Student Conference will be held at NSA

The National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski” (NSA) organizes a national student conference under the motto "University sport - our right today and tomorrow". The forum aims at creating space for discussion on current issues of student sport in Bulgaria. It will be held in the Academy on18-19 May 2011.

The organization and content of sports activities in the Bulgarian universities have been in a process of transformation over the past ten years. The importance of sport for the development of personal competencies in young people is undeniable. Its impact on the physical and mental health of young people is extremely powerful and needs to be stimulated.

The sports activities are amongst the leading criteria for attractiveness and competitiveness in the selection of higher schools. Studies on the quality of educational services in the European universities showed that students valued very highly the opportunity for active participation in sports during their studies and the access for each student to good sports facilities in accordance with their preference.

The current problems in the area of university sport need to be identified and some measures for improvement have to be outlined so that the existing obstacles could be overcome. As the national leader in this area of higher education, the National Sports Academy realizes the importance and the necessity of a student forum on university sports. We believe that the most valuable in this forum will be the student perspective on the issues and the opportunity to see the picture form their point of view. That is why the NSA would like to encourage and welcome students from all Bulgarian universities to participate actively in this conference.
