The first vicar of the Sofia Metropolis visited the NSA

03 October 2024 His Grace Bishop Pachomius, the first vicar of the Sofia Metropolis and recently the rector of the Sofia Spiritual Seminary, visited the National Sports Academy for a meeting with Rector Prof. Krasimir Petkov. During his visit, Bishop Pachomius became acquainted with the main priorities in the mission of the NSA, among which physical education and the education of young people in the values of sports occupy a leading place. He attended a lecture on the history of physical education and sports, led by Prof. Lozan Mitev, where he interacted with the students and wished them success. His Grace toured the chapel of "St. St. Cyril and Methodius" and was informed by Rector Prof. Krasimir Petkov and the director of administrative and economic activities, Valentin Dobrev, about the planned renovation and restoration activities. With exceptional interest and curiosity, Bishop Pachomius followed the key moments in the historical development of the Academy, presented through the rich exhibition in the Educational and Olympic Center by Assoc. Prof. Emilia Vitanova, a lecturer in the Department of Management and History of Sports. He expressed his congratulations to the creators of the Center and emphasized the high historical and educational value of the exhibits in the museum collection. The discussions also involved Prof. Nikolai Izov, the assistant rector of the NSA, as well as representatives of institutions with which the Academy successfully collaborates: the advisor to the Youth and Sports Committee in the 50th National Assembly, Valentin Zayakov, the rector of the Southwest University – Prof. Nikolai Marin, and the leadership of the Bulgarian Tourist Union represented by Ventsislav Venev - chairman, and Lachezar Lazarov - executive secretary. |
