19 September 2024 The Rector of the National Sports Academy, Prof. Krasimir Petkov, presented a plaque to Bulgaria’s top fencer, Yoana Ilieva, for her outstanding sports achievements and for elevating the prestige of NSA "Vasil Levski" as a participant in the Paris Olympic Games. Due to her competition preparation commitments, Yoana was unable to attend the academic year opening ceremony when students and alumni of NSA, who participated in the Olympic and Paralympic Games, were honored with awards. The fencer, who achieved historic success for Bulgaria with a bronze medal in the individual competition at the World Fencing Championships (Italy), donated one of her competition weapons to NSA's Educational and Olympic Center. Visitors to the Center will now have the opportunity to see her saber, used during the Paris 2024 Olympic qualifiers, displayed among the most valuable exhibits. After successfully completing her bachelor's degree in Fencing, Yoana is now continuing to enhance her education and professional qualifications in the "Sport for High Achievements" master's program at the National Sports Academy. |
