National Sports Academy “Vasiil Levski” is partner of the Erasmus Intensive Programme at Gedik University, Turkey
Published on 26 June 2014 Vise-rectors of National Sports Academy “Vassil Levski” Prof. Daniela Dasheva, Prof. Dimitar Mihailov and chief ass. Stefka Djobova took part in the presentation of the Erasmus intensive programme under the name "Disability Sports and Health; Game and Activity Modifications" on 23th June 2014 Gedik University. The other partners of the Project are Turkey, Czech Republic, Italy and Finland. Target groups of the programme are the students who studies Coaching, Physical Education, Recreation and Physical Therapy in Schools of Physical Education and Sports. 24 students from the European universities and 9 students from the Gedik University attended the programme. The programme will cover in total 4 modules in 4 weeks, 76 hours of theory and 64 hours of practice. The project is sponsored by Lifelong Learning Programme, Istanbul Electricity, Tramway and Tunnel General Management (İETT), Pendik Municipality and Tuzla Municipality up to ˆ40,000. The Coordinator of the Project is Prof. Dilara OZER. “Disability Sports and Health; Game and Activity Modifications” programme aims to provide year round adaptive sport instruction to adults and children with physical and cognitive disabilities and also aims to investigate the health and performance benefits derived from regular physical activity across the full range of physical disabilities, as well as to investigate the motives and barriers to physical activity among these populations. Findings translate into real world applications, having a positive impact on the physical activity, health and wellbeing of persons with disabilities at all levels. The programme in Dolayoba Sports Facility allowed individuals with disabilities to enjoy a boundary-free environment, enjoy outdoor recreation with friends and family, as well as provided access to equipment and instruction that might otherwise be unavailable by a full day event.
