Carlos Nassar won an Olympic title and set a world record in weightlifting!
Published on 09 August 2024 National Sports Academy student Carlos Nassar won the Olympic title in men's weightlifting in the 89 kg category at the Paris Games. He also set two world records - a total of 404 kg in the combined lift and 224 kg in the clean and jerk. Unmatched and unwavering, Carlos discouraged his competitors with his absolute dominance from the very first attempts. This is Bulgaria's second gold medal at the Paris Olympics, following another NSA student, Semen Novikov, who won the title in Greco-Roman wrestling in the 87 kg category. Photos by BTA |
