The National Sports Academy offers programmes at the three qualification degrees:

• Bachelor

4 year programmes /full time studies/ - 240 ECTS

• Master

1-1.5 year programmes after the Bachelor degree – min. 60 ECTS

• Doctor

3 year programme after the Master degree

The National Sports Academy provides fundamental education at Bachelor degree in the following fields:

• Sport

Professional qualifications:        Coach in … (sport)

                                               Sport manager

                                               Sport animator

                                               Coach in adapted physical activity and sport

• Physical Education

Professional qualification:      Teacher in Physical Education

• Kinesitherapy / Physiotherapy

Professional qualification:         Kinesitherapist

From 2005 the NSA has applied the European Credit Transfer System – ECTS

The National Sports Academy offers the following Master programmes as qualification education to Bachelor degree holders:

• Sport journalism
• Sport management
• Sport animation
• Sport psychology
• Olimpism and Olympic movement
• Kinesitherapy
• High Performance Sport
• Physical education
• Sport, fitness, health
• Sport and security
• Adapted physical activities

Foreign students who don’t speak Bulgarian are provided with opportunities for intensive preparation at the Department for Language Education and Information Technologies. They can learn Bulgarian during their first years of studies along with other relevant subjects.

ADMISSION

Foreign citizens applying to study at the NSA submit the following documents to the Student Affairs Department:

·        A completed Application form containing a brief CV and specifying the degree programme which is being applied for.

·        A certified translation of applicant’s diploma for secondary education.

·        A medical certificate issued not earlier than a month before the application procedure and validated by the respective authorities in the applicant’s country

·        The Diploma and the medical certificate must be legalized, translated into Bulgarian and validated in accordance with the provisions contained in the intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country in which these documents were issued. If no such agreements exist, the documents be legalized, translated and validated according to the standard procedure for the legalization, translation and validation of documents and other official papers (apostil).

·        Three recent photographs.

Applicants submit their documents not later than 20 September of the respective academic year for which they are applying.

EU citizens are offered the opportunity to study one year course in Bulgarian language at the Academy and afterward to apply for admittance under the conditions determined for  Bulgarian citizens.

Non-EU foreign citizens study against payment. They submit the above mentioned set of documents as their last educational degree has to receive official recognition by the respective authorities at the Ministry of Education and Science. 

Foreign students which study against payment in Bachelor or Master degree programme or follow a language preparation year pay a tuition fee of 3200 Euro.

The NSA offers hotel accommodation for short term stay at approximately 20 Euro per night.

Students can take meals at the two restaurants, student canteen and cafeterias. The price of a meal is about 4-5 Euro.
